3D Printing has taken over many industries in recent years but the biggest argument against home use is the lack of materials. Many companies are already doing their research and over the coming few months release new materials.
Formfutura is one such company and Easywood is one such material.
Easywood from Formfutura may easily be one of the world's best wood filament for 3D Printing. It is composed of approximately 40% ground wood particles combined with easy to 3D Print polymers. The finished product looks and even smells like wood, as an actual print on wood. It comes in a large variety of colors
- Birch
- Cedar
- Coconut
- Ebony
- Olive
- Pine
- Willow
and is surprisingly consistent. Occasionally, there are breakages but Easywood has the lowest rate of breakage than any other wood-infused 3D printing material we have tried.
3D Printing with Easywood is surprisingly easy. A heated bed is recommended but not required. Generally heated beds can be set at about 60˚C and nozzles can be set anywhere between 180˚C to 210˚C. The higher the temperature, the darker the print. Certain 3D printers also give the wood a very glossy finish, we suspect it may be caused by the fans. But more investigation is required.
Formfutura also has HDglass, Carbon Fibre PLA and many others, all available in the 3D Printing Materials Store.
